It begins with the collection and sorting of raw animal skins (goat, cow and camel skin), then cleaning, drying and dyeing until it reaches the level of flexibility necessary to be more useful for what is called “the Balgha”.
Fez is one of the largest centers of trade in slippers and handicrafts. In Fez, a variety of Moroccan slippers are manufactured. The manufacture of an exemplary Balgha depends on the quality of the raw materials used and the tools employed in the process.
